Ottumwa Schools Activities Admission Update

Posted Date: 8/29/24 (10:05 AM)

Activities Admission Reminders:

This is a reminder that all students 6-12 will be required to show an ID before purchasing a ticket to all home games. We have updated this policy to reflect the 6th grade that is now at Liberty. Liberty and Evans Students will receive their IDs before leaving school Friday, August 30th.

Admission for all events is $7, pre-purchased tickets or a credit card at the gate is preferred. Cash will be accepted with exact change.

The Ottumwa Community School District has taken additional steps to enhance safety and security at school events. The updated safety and procedures plan was collaboratively developed in conjunction with the Ottumwa High School Administration, Evans Administration, Activities Staff, Security Staff, and the Ottumwa Police Department to ensure the safety of all attendees at school events.

Gate/Entry at Schafer Stadium:

  • ID Required for Entry: All students in grades 6-12 must present their school ID before purchasing. Security personnel will scan IDs. Students with activity suspensions will not be allowed to enter.

  • No Student Re-Entry: Once students enter the event, they may not leave and re-enter for any reason. Any ID scanned more than once will be detected, and students will be prohibited from entering the event.

  • Elementary Students (K-5): Elementary students must always be accompanied by an adult. If they cause a disturbance without an adult present, they will be seated near the middle school section until their accompanying adult retrieves them.

  • Evans/Liberty Students (6-9): Middle school students must sit in the designated area, unless with an adult. This section will be located on the west end of the home bleachers near the pavilion. Students must use home-side concessions and restrooms, returning promptly to their designated area.

  • High School (10-12): High school students will sit in the designated high school section, using home-side concessions and restrooms and returning promptly to their designated area.

Additional Entry Policies:

  • No outside food or beverages are allowed.

  • Backpacks or large bags are prohibited. Purses and small bags may be subject to inspection. Diaper bags, medical devices, and standard-size purses are allowed.

Your patience and cooperation as we work together in creating a great experience for everyone. Let's go Bulldogs!

FAQ

My student lives in Ottumwa but attends a different school, do they need to present an ID?

Yes, students from other schools in grades 6-12 who are attending Ottumwa games are required to show their school ID.

My student is younger than 6th grade, can they still attend an activity?

Yes, students in 5th grade are allowed gate entry under the accompaniment of an adult (this is not a change but a clarification that k-5 students are still allowed at our games.)

My 6-12 grade student is attending an activity with me, but they do not have their school ID, can they still come in with me?

No, all students grades 6-12 must present a school ID or they will not be allowed entry. You may ask to speak with an Administrator at the gate if circumstances permit.

If students from a school district other than Ottumwa Schools would like to attend, they must be accompanied by an adult.
